Voltage and wiring: the basics you need to know
Each LED color has its own working voltage range:
- Red / yellow / orange: ~2.0 – 2.2 V
- Green / blue / white / purple / pink: ~2.8 – 3.3 V
The package is a standard 5 mm housing with two leads (anode and cathode). If you connect them to 5 V or 12 V, you must add a current-limiting resistor. There are plenty of simple schematics and online calculators that help you pick the right value.
