Did you notice that your AliExpress package was sent to Schiedam in the tracking information? You’re not alone! In this blog, I’ll explain what this means, why it happens, and — most importantly — how to avoid this in the future.
📮 Why does your package end up in Schiedam?
Schiedam is a logistics hub where PostNL collects returns. Your package may be sent there for one of the following reasons:
- Incorrect or incomplete address
- The package was not picked up in time from the pickup point
- Taxes or import duties were not paid
- The package was refused or damaged
In such cases, AliExpress packages are usually returned to the sender. If you wait too long, it’s often too late to retrieve it.
❗ What are the consequences?
- You probably won’t receive your order.
- Automatic refunds are rare.
- The seller may charge return or administrative fees.
Sometimes, you’ll need to open a dispute on AliExpress to try and get your money back. With dropshippers, this is often unsuccessful.
💡 How can you prevent this?
- Carefully check your address for every order
- Use your full name (no abbreviations)
- Track your shipment using the tracking code
- Pick up your package as soon as it’s available
- Whenever possible, choose items marked with Free Return
If issues arise, contact the seller as soon as possible. The sooner you act, the better the chance of a positive outcome.
